Photo exposition “The next landscape” at the Landscape Triennial 2017 (September 2017)

The theme of the 2017 Landscape Triennial is The Next Landscape. What will define the landscape of the future? What will our everyday surroundings look like in the coming decades? Who will take care of it? What are the driving forces behind the changes in our landscape? Who will create it?

The photo exposition shows how photographers view “The next landscape”. In my photo, agriculture has a prominent role, as this still characterizes the Dutch landscape. However, more and more agricultural areas are being replaced by new nature and residential areas. In the Haarlemmermeer, there is and will be a main role for Schiphol, with even more air traffic expected in the future. The photo also shows the increasing use of sustainable energy.

The base of the photo is an agricultural area near Schiphol, in which I added elements from for example the park “De Groene Weelde” in the Haarlemmermeer.

Photo exposition “Parallel landscape”

2nd price in the photography competition “Parallel landscape” organized by “Podium voor Architectuur Haarlemmermeer en Schiphol”.

The assignment was to choose a photo or a painting made before 1980 and to translate this picture to a current scene in the Dutch “Haarlemmermeer” area. I have chosen a painting of Vincent Van Gogh, Park at Asnières (1887) and photographed a place with similar composition and colors  in “De Groene Weelde”, a park in the Haarlemmermeer.
